Parcel delivered back to sender

I was supposed to receive a package today, but the sender (in Switzerland) messaged me to say the parcel arrived back with him.

Anyone had this issue before? I received other packages this week without issue so wondering what happened. I received notification from Swiss Post, so address was correct.

Not that, but we were expecting something to be delivered to us for signature on Tuesday yet despite us being in they put a note in the postbox to say they couldn’t deliver it and we had to pick it up from the local post counter which we did yesterday.

Swiss Post are usually pretty good, but this time failed miserably. Even had the cheek to send an e-mail to tell us other options for future deliveries if we couldn’t be in to receive items.

Was yours something that needed signing for?

Gone are the days when the postman would stop by for a cup of tea.

I recently signed for a package with DHL. A few minutes later I received a text message to say sorry, we couldn’t deliver since you weren’t home. :woman_shrugging:

Maybe suggest to the vendor to ask the first courier what went wrong and at the same time suggest they try a different courier?

And hand over your weeks wages in cash.

Happened to me once because the sender did not remove the previous labels on the box. So it was delivered again at his place.

I had one from Planzer like that.

Text message stating they couldn’t deliver it.

Found the (small) package on top of the post box, and not in it!

Clicked this morning “return” on an item form digitec, put my shoes on, went with the box to the post only to learn that somehow the QR doesn’t work :person_shrugging: the funny thing is that I’ve already returned things 2 or 3 times using the QR instead of printing and sticking the label myself

Anyway, sender went to the post office and they said the messed things up and tried again. I received the package today.

Coincidentally I had a similar situation yesterday.

I am a registered customer with the German Post so I can have parcels delivered to any Gertman Post Office and collect them frree of any charge.
Yesterday I got the message that a parcel could not be delivered to my chosen post office so was returned.
Nobody can tell me why but the firm involved already returned my credit card payment.

One strange thing, parcels are free but I have to pay 2 euro for letters.
That is a nuisance if I order something small enough to be put in an envelope.

Had a good one this morning. Went out shopping, came back and saw a soggy parcel from Amazon outside our garage. Checking it it wasn’t for us, but for a neighbour down a side road. Who dumped it there and when don’t know. Wasn’t there when I checked our post at lunchtime yesterday so somewhere between that time and 9am-ish this morning. We had rain overnight/this morning which is why it got wet. Took it round to the neighbour so they have it now, but talk about lazy.
