Parking ticket from our private garage

No this is not the case. Even the new system allows you parking time up to 24 hours. When you register your plate on the website, you can select your desired parking time from a dropdown list, 24 hour is the maximum.

It says exactly the following:

"Berechtigt sind die Besucher von Wohn- und Gewerbemieter der

auf den Besucherparkplätzen Nr. 6-7 und 12-23 während der Dauer ihres Besuches, max 2 Tage pro Woche und max 6 tage pro Monat.

Für Kurze Besuche Parkscheibe hinterlegen oder bei Parkdauer über 2h die Reigistierung über die parkon-App vornehmen.

Bei wiederholtem Verstoss wird das Fahrzeug abgeschleppt."

It is also not even in line what I really have to do. It says I need to use a parkon app. I downloaded it, but I cannot use it, because it immediately asks for a Vertrag nr, which I do not have/know. (and probably none of the "real" Besuchers would know). It does not let you do anything before you enter the Vertrag nr. Instead I have to use the link I received from my employer the next day to register my plate.

Oh my guide, can you be a little bit less arrogant?

Maybe for you it is not, but for me having to pay to a 3rd party for something that I am allowed to use free of charge it is.

Does it really matter? I can easily afford it, that's what matters. Half a year ago the price of petrol was 1.96/l yesterday it was 2.19. The difference in case of a 40 l tank is less than 10 CHF. I do not think it really matters.

Yes, there is an obvious problem with the communication of our HR department. As I already mentioned, this will be brought on the table.

Yes, I've already admitted that I passed the signs. But come on, honestly, do you also check all the signs when you visit your favourite Migros/Coop parking lot? Of course if I visit a new place, I am looking for the actual rules, but I used this occasionally but for years now, I did not reread the signs every time I went to work. There was nothing on this labels that grabs the people's attention like "New!", "Change of rules!" or anything similar.

This is insane, I never called German a strange language. It's absolutely fine to have signs in German in a German speaking Canton, you did. I mentioned I do not speak it yet, to put my situation in context. (However since our company has clients from abroad, and also half of the employees do not speak German, I believe English would make sense as well.)

Another post to correct the idea that blue zones around zurich cannot be ‘rented’ - you can purchase a blue zone day pass here for Stadt Zurich here:

https://www.stadt-zuerich.ch/pd/de/i…line-shop.html

The exception is Kreis 1 - there are no blue zones in Kreis 1 - if you need to park in the centre of the city, you can use one of the parking garages and pay there.

There are similar services for the Gemeinde around Stadt Zurich - Thalwil costs 10chf/day, Adliswil costs 7chf/day. Each Gemeinde has a link on their website to purchase the day parking pass, and a different procedure (some you register your plate, some you have to print and display the paper)…

Yes, get a grip, stop moaning and check out how useless your HR people are. Will refrain from going through your bullet points to avoid accusations of pedantry on top of arrogance

This is cool, thanks, I did not hear about it, and this information will be for sure useful for my next Zürich visits! However I tend to visit Zürich by train, not car, but from time to time it happens as well, so thanks!

However it is not relevant to the current situation, the office is in Winti, not Zürich, as far as I know there is no such a daypass here, and anyway, as long as we can use the office's spots, I'm not looking to park on the street.

Such fines are always aggravating, especially if your intention was not to knowingly flout the rules. However, the fine is also effective in terms of encouraging you to be more attentive in the future.

Here's my two cents: how much is your time worth? You have already devoted significant energy to this and the results are not what you desired. You can keep going, hoping to create as much aggravation for the other parties as you feel you have suffered. And then what? You might succeed in the end, but at what cost? You can choose to spend more of your precious time on this, which as you know, isn't limitless on this earth.

Just pay the fine, be upset about it for a minute and then forget about it. If this fine is the biggest challenge you're facing in your life right now, you are one very fortunate human being.

Ask if they have a vignette system that you can register one time your plate number and you put a sticker on your windshield or a card on your dash. Having to register EVERY DAY you bring your car, that's tedious. Some places have them, other don't. Your mileage may vary.

IMHO, you are not a guest of your company, you are an employee. A Besucher would be someone coming for your services. I'm not allowed to park in my guest parking at my work so ya. Wondering if they marked your tire or something and noticed the car parked there for a really long time, longer than a "guest" would. dunno

Ya pretty much a lesson here. Ya it was lame you got notice after the fact, but according to you they did have signs up, not their fault. Suxxorz but if was me I'd have to pay up and follow their rules. At least the do have parking.

That's true, but I would not call this energy wasted. I have already learnt several stuff from this discussion, such as several companies does not let you use the guest spots, I will have to pay attention on this if I change job. Or about the daily ticket in Zürich City blue zones. Also the information would be useful for others in the future.

That's not true, or it's only partly true. I did not have high expectations, I just expected several opinions about the situation, and I got it, I am grateful for them. I also expected several people to say to just pay it, and since it is an absolutely reasonable opinion, I am fine with it. So more or less I got what I expected. The only part where I desired a little bit more information is:

This is why I originally came here, to find this out. Since I'm living in this country, I payed everything promptly. I really have no experience, what happens if I miss a payment (or even if I'm just late with a payment). What is likely to happen. Will they send a debt collector or an invitation to the court? How much work/hassle will it cause me? Answering a letter every half a year may fit in my schedule, going to the court twice a week would not.

So paying the ransom is reasonable, and there is a high chance I will do it. I just wanted to do some research about the alternatives, and expected more answers like LuganoPirate's answer. But I also understand that (hopefully) not too much people here have such an experience, and probably that's why I got less information about that part.

Anyway thank you for everyone who shared their thoughts, unfortunately for whatever reason I cannot thank (neither groan), but I'm grateful for all the opinions.

Fortunately it's not that bad, today I came by car again and tested the new system. You can really do it less than a minute: you And because besucher spots are used only by occasional drivers, this is not really " EVERY DAY ". So if you know what to do, it's really straightforward. The problem was I did not know that I had to do something new, and actually as it turned out afterwards, the new signs does not help you neither.

However, even if the instructions wouldn't have worked they provided you with someone to contact in that case. Overall it looks like your HR f'ed up, they should have informed you employees in advance, and you get the bill for it.

In all likelihood parkon will follow through and call on the courts to collect their fee (this'll be part of their business model), which will probably be successful and increase your costs, monetary but also nerves and time.
