Passepartout Zone system

Hi,

Does anybody here have direct experience of the SBB Passepartout system around the Lucerne/Nidwalden area. There is a complicated zone system, with the region split into major zones with 2 digit numbers. These zones are then subdivided into sub-zones with 3 digit numbers. For example, zone 92 is made up of 921 to 924.

I am trying to calculate costs for a monthly season ticket. If I use the main zone numbers then I need a 4 zone ticket, but if every sub-zone counts then I will pass through 6; there is a significant cost difference.

I tried putting extracts of the German rules for the Passepartout through Babelfish, and did get a little optimism after coming to a conclusion that the little sub-zones count for single journeys and the main zones count for season tickets.

Is this correct, or have I just got completely the wrong end of the stick?

Thanks

Nick

Just incasee, here is their website and a PDF

Thanks for the tables. However, until I know how the zone system works then I am still stuck between a 4 and 6 zones ticket.

Things have gotten a lot more complicated since the days of Phileas Fogg.
