Seems a bit precarious seeing as there are no guarantees that Agent Orange won’t completely change his mind in a week or a month or whatever. Then let’s say there’s a whole new administration in 4 years and normal service is resumed.

Not only that. Who wants to invest big money in that country where Agent Orange comes up with crazier ideas by the minute?

The other thing many companies around here already clearly mentioned: The US does not have the necessary educated staff. It would take years to educate them accordingly.

With JKF Jr. now in charge, why not?

huh? Settle in the US, building big pharmacie plants and then sell it to … whom? By the time all this is built he might have convinced all the Americans

I was kidding.

well, given tha

given that they have dismantled a large part of the FDA, god knows how the assessment for drug registration will be undertaken…

Basically, it will take much longer to get approval

I’d have thoght they won’t even bother. They don’t need medicine anymore anyway?

They’ll need loads of medicine to treat all the unvaccinated people who get sick.

I seriously doubt that the makers of Wegovey and similars will move their production to the US. They will just add the tariffs to their already obscene prices and likely suffer no loss in sales.

If they could simply raise prices, why haven’t they done that already?

Emergency measures. I wonder how many millions each of this planes is carrying.

“Novartis is flying medicines to the USA at high speed”
 who will pay the fines for speeding?

Novartis will pay fines indeed, not speeding but noise fines.

It seems one of these airplanes needed a maintenance check and took off after the normal operation hours of Euro airport:

An incident involving the 747 of Silkway West shows that things had to be done quickly: following a hydraulic problem, the aircraft did not take off until 11.22 p.m. despite the ban on night flights - knowing full well that this could result in a hefty fine.

The haste paid off: The US customs authorities declared that all goods that were already loaded and in transit would not be subject to the newly announced tariffs - even if they arrived after the deadline.

A few thousands francs don’t compare to what the airplane is carrying

Given how well (punt here) pharma industry manages logistics and supply chain, my fear is about destockings of essential products in Europe…

Now they have someone else to blame. Don’t forget the tariff applies to the wholesale import price. Retailers mark up that price by some amount. If 20% is added to the retail price it’s a win-win-win!

yep, crossed my mind too.

Somehow I don’t think Novartis is selling paracetamol to retailers like CVS.
