Philippine Restaurant/Take-away in Baden

There is this newly opened Philippine restaurant in Baden called Wilma's Kitchen. Its the only one in Switzerland so please try it out.

Name and address would be useful!

It is in the internet under www.wilmaskitchen.ch

Wilma's Kitchen - Lounge und Take Away - Haselstr. 19b, 5400 Baden - Tel. 056 210 40 34 - Mobil 076 492 47 11

There in fact, in the 1990ies, was a Philippine restaurant in Zürich, in Stampfenbachstrasse, which then however suddenly disappeared.

Thanks for this info.

It is on Haselstrasse in the small group of imbisses/restaurants opposite the Trafo. Just round the corner from the bahnhof.

Is the cuisine any good ? Have only heard bad about it, but then that's from people who prefer Thai food.

When you look up that number in Twix-Tel it comes up with the name of a different establishment: "Taste of Asia" .

I like the new name Wilma's Kitchen, it sounds more authentic..

Yes the food there is good, I eat there once a week. Filipino food is not for everyone, some like it (like me ) some not. I don't prefer Thai food so much because its too spicy for my taste. Others love spicy food so they prefer Thai or Indian food. Just try to have an open mind when trying diff. kinds of cuisine....

has any one tried the Casanova Bar in Baden.. it seems they serve Indian food as well

I am not an expert on Philippine food, but what the manager of the Philippine restaurant in Zurich in 1991 explained means that Philippine cuisine has all the spices of Indian and Thai cuisines but is far less spicy. Its spicyness is somewhere between Spanish and Italian cuisine. I have been there twice and found the food delicious. The manager clarified that his ways were not some sort of compromising with European tastes and likings but the real thing.

Thai people tend to feel superior over the Filipinos, for whatever reasons. And possibly fear that Europeans once having found their way to the Philippine restaurant might stop masochistic sessions in Thai places in favour of a cuisine which is much nearer to European tastes.

I love the more spicy parts of the Indian cuisine while Thai cuisine for me is a bit too extremely spicy. If I remember it correctly the Philippine restaurant in Zurich had a boring "füdlibürgerisch/spiessbürgerlich" ambiance, and was exactly in a sector of the Stampfenbachstrasse where nobody went to after 18.30 . At least not then, as the area in just recent years improved in regard to gastronomy.

Oh I am certainly open-minded, but I do have a preference for spicy food in general. Is there a special dish you could recommend ?

Thais love to categorize people. Laotians, Vietnamese, Burmese, Malaysians (except Chinese-Malaysians..) all inferior to them...

Did you know that Chilli was imported by the Portuguese to Thailand and prior to that it was a very unspicy cuisine ?

Thai cuisine is a fusion of a lot of different regional kitchens, that's why I love its diversity! But I am most willing to try new foods!

Philippino food is good but stay away from BALOT. Google and ask for picture. You will see what I mean

lol! you're right about this one. But i love it, it's a Filipino delicacy.

Argh... Oh well, it exists all over SE-Asia, but still disgusting I admit. I've tried lots of strange foods, but I wouldn't eat Balot..

Yes, but most of the cuisines of today are "fusion cuisines" and merge various cuisines.
