Photographic shop that develops B&W film needed - Zurich

Hello,

I have recently taken some pictures using B&W film, which was bought in the camera shop near the English Orell Fussli shop. They didnt tell me that although they sell it, they cant develop it!

They told me to go to 'Studio 13' in Limmatplatz but could give me no further address. I spent some time wandering around but couldnt find said shop. My iPhone only offered me bordello 'studios' when I did a search online....:-)

Does anyone know of this shop or any other in Zurich that will develop 120 B&W film?

As the OP appears to be English i would suggest saving the film up and getting it developed when she is next in the Uk...

In Zurich, there are 4 options that I know of:

However, you'll spend a fortune if you want also prints, and not only a developed film. The cheapest options are however Migros, Coop and Mediamarkt (and Drogerie Mùˆller until it closed recently). They do develop also BW, but don't expect good results. The (second) best option is to send them to http://www.ilfordlab.com/page/57/Bla...-from-Film.htm First best would be to develop yourself.

Studio 13 are really great, convenient for Zurich HB, and inexpensive for developing to a negative or transparency. You will get perhaps 7x 35mm colour films developed for your 35 chf minimum order. 120 and B+W (S/W) costs a bit more, but not much.

If you don't make 35chf from developing, you can buy some more film there to make it up. Developing only, is cheaper than develop and print at Migros. The film comes back in nice clear holders, and is dried carefully, and perfectly flat when returned (unlike Migros), so is easy to scan.

I use Migros if I want snapshots, printing is expensive at Studio 13. The negs I get back from Migros are not as easy to scan as from Studio 13 because they are usually crinkled.

I often wonder how Studio 13 can develop so cheaply to such a high standard. I think they simply need to keep volumes high, otherwise their chemicals would go off. So they develop at or slightly above cost.

This is really helpful thank you. Can you tell me where Studio 13 is? I couldnt see it and they gave me no useful directions at all!

ars-imago are my nearest camera shop. They have a wide range of film sizes, and carry newly manufactured B+W film stock in long obsolete sizes. They sell a lot over the internet, and you can walk in and get their internet prices over the counter. It's nice to see a camera shop that is slowly expanding its film related offerings and services. When I bought some Provia 400X from them (120 and 35mm) it came straight out of a fridge in the back.
