I would like to get a coop mobile sim, preferably today. their 800-18-18-18 customer service is not available on weekends.
I am in zurich oerlikon area. Do they have physical shop I can go to, please?

Well, i managed to answer my own question. Amazing how morning coffee stimulates the brain into brainstorming… )
Well, all coops sell coop prepaid sim cards (if they have them in stock). But not necessarily SIMs for the remaining offers from coop mobile website.
However, Fust does sell all (confirmed over a phone call to fust). That is also what customer service at my local coop told me.

But what is the difference? SIM cards are the same.
some sims are only pre-paid. they just sell them, load money on it at the time of the sale, and tell the buyer how to load money when the balance is low/zero.
Other SIMs require registration and a ‘subscription’ type. coop (grocery) stores may or may not be able to do there. Hence, they redirect those customers to Fust, Interdiscount, etc
All SIMs require registration in Switzerland. I’m 99% sure there is no difference and you can switch between contract and prepaid easy.
P.S. Yes, you can Switch from prepaid to contract simply by sending SMS. Which is a proof that all SIMs are the same.

of course every Sim has to be registered with service provider. who would provide the service and billing otherwise? this applies globally, not just in CH.
You are wrong. In many countries you can buy a SIM card without registration and use it anonymously as long as it is prepaid. If you have lost your SIM card - bad luck. You also cannot transfer your number, because the SIM is not registered on your name. Whoever is using it is the owner.
In Switzerland there is no much difference whether you buy SIM card for using it as prepaid or as a contract. You must show your ID and fill in the papers. Now it can be done online by scanning your passport and face. But you cannot just buy a SIM card as you buy groceries in the supermarket.
In fact, the only difference between prepaid and contract in Switzerland is the way of billing. But it’s not like that in every country. If you bought an anonymous SIM card you have to authorise as an owner before you can have a contract with this mobile service provider.
I have the impression that the number of such countries goes down rapidly. Can you name a few examples that still allow SIM activation without registration?
after 911, for security purposes, burner phone and anonymous Sim have been severely curtailed. buying a prepaid Sim / phone requires credit card or cash payments with ID. without that, system will not allow activation.
