Hi, does anyone know of a place that sells different types of frames and you can get it customised to your required size? I want to get a mirror made and there are so many place in London (shops and on line) but only managed to find 1 place in Zurich (Jelmoli). Recommendations greatly appreciated! thank you!
I can't vouch for any of the following sites as I've never needed a custom made frame. Hope one of these links help you and sorry, I only found sites in German.
There's a place by Bahnhof Stadelhofen, just into Müehlebachstrasse, which specialises in frames. Don't know the name, but you can't miss it as it has, er, frames all over the facade
I live in Zurich and need to get some pictures and photos framed. If you can suggest a reasonably-priced place to get this done (they're not master-pieces), I would really appreciate it. If you don't know of any specific places, but can suggest terms to search the phone directory for, please let me know. I have found plenty of galleries and art-supply stores, but no framers so far. Thanks.
Anyone have experience with companies that frame prints/art work? I have a 45x65cm print by Dieter Roth that I need framed. I bought a cheap/temporary alu frame in Coop, but would like to have it done professionally. Coop charges ca. chf 300 for a custom alu frame of that size, but I am not convinced that is such a good deal. Any recomendations?
I heard that Jumbo does framing at reasonable cost, but not at every store - you need to check if they have the facility. I ran out of time and was not able to get to them so had to resort to going to a photography shop in our village who charged me an astronomical fee
I have about 10 new original paintings to have framed from my recent travels in South America and was wondering if anyone knew of a good and reasonably priced framer in Zurich or environs. 2 of the paintings are fragile as are done on sheets - we bought them in Cuba and as such, we really need the framer to know what he's doing. Just had one framed in London that we gave as a wedding present and set us back £90 for a 70x50cm painting (included stretcher and purpose-built frame). The same framer quoted us £140 to do the same thing for 100x150cm painting though obviously we can't get that back on the plane. Hence the question. I'm guessing that given this is Switzerland, the price will be higher than what we paid in Clapham but any ideas will be grately appreciated.
I searched on here and found someone who used Art Poster Gallery on Stadelhoferstrasse near Stadelhofen Station and Bellevueplatz. We've since done 3 pictures there, all with great success. One was a relatively expensive print on unusual paper - they had great ideas and mounted it very well. I would highly recommend.
Depending on what quality frames and glass you want, there are other possibilites than an individual picture framer, which could indeed be expensive.
If standard size, you could DIY buying the frames off the shelf at most DIY stores, ie. Jumbo, Migro Brico, etc.
For a higher standard or unique sizes, where you choose the frame and the glass, and it is custom done for you, most of the bigger DIYs have this service--Migro Bricos, Hornbach, etc. Had this done several times, all with excellent results.
I have acquired an old map and wish to have it framed properly. Has anyone done something similiar here or have recommendations for professional framers.
