Great!
the rest look good though
Last time I went there the prices were very high and the chicken pie had raisins in it.
mushrooms surely
and maybe even some bacon
but hmm raisins, that's quite wrong
I have enjoyed the pies they had on offer at Grumpies opening do a while back but was amused at their cottage pies in a pastry crust, not really right but quite nice
And they have Love Hearts.
I have to say, they aren't really like a pie you'd find in the UK though.
Its a shame they didn`t have any sausage rolls
I'm somewhat bemused when people comment pies don't match their expectations of what a pie ought to look like I wish I had your problems. The pies mightn't be the price, smell , texture nor shape of a pork or ginsters pie, but as organic and freshly produced items made by friendly people, I'd say they're pretty good. As with the movie rule - 'Would an exploding helicopter make it a better film?' - pies need a 'Would it be improved without raisins?' qualifier. I suggest the Try a Pie pies wouldn't. But then, I'm easily pleased and often peckish...
Three things I noticed no-one mentioned yet. The regular green salad has a special sauce: Raspberry salad sauce I believe .. ummm... yummy.. try the salad with the pie (then its a menu) The Hot Chilli Pie is my personal favourite although the Shepherd's Pie (with potato baked cover .. darn, I can't explain it) is slowly clawing its way up my list too ... They also have some home made syrup which are indeed nice Never tried the steak and kidney one, but chicken pie did not have raisins in it last time I ate it (couple of weeks back). Mushrooms yes, raisins no. Compared to the Hot Chilli I have to agree I found it a bit bland.
The ladies working there are quite charming and friendly. Once they even offered to pack some salad sauce specially for home, since they ran out of green salad and saw my sad face!
I too think its slightly expensive, but I am sure such a small establishment cannot earn from anything else and it might lead to not so good pies if that is done. Definitely worth a try if you are fed up of going to the nearest Bakery and grabbing the same old Wähe, thon sandwiches and like during lunch.

"slow oven roasted chicken, dried plums, raisins and warm spices simmered in a tasty cream sauce with mushrooms."
Dried plums and raisins? Got to be worth a try
