Points Card Vs Ski-pass for Flumserberg

Hi,

I didn't find any information about this using search...

I'll be going skiing tomorrow to Flumserber and will only be using the "T-Bars". I was told about getting a points card for this. But others told me about getting a Snow n Rain which I can then use to get a ski pass.

Does the ski pass also allow access to the T bars or do I need the points card as well?

I won't be be do anything else other than using the T bars.

Thanks in advance

Yes, but I recommend you the snow and rail, because it's cheaper... With Skipass or snow and rail you will have access to all of the intallations (snow-and-rail = skipass + ticket for the train).

If you go to pizol (with the same train) you will get 50% discount this month in your snow and rail ticket.

Hmmm, the snow n rail will give you a full resort pass. You save 15% on train ticket and hire though. You are not saving on the ski pass.

How much is a points card?

You need to consider whether the saving on train travel and hire with snow n rail is more than just getting a points card with regular travel ticket.

Personally, I would get snow n rail, becuase I cant imagine the difference being more than 20-30CHF if that, which is nothing really. Likewise, with the full lift pass you can move onto the blue run which is really simple. Or if you don't think you will move onto that, you might still want to go to the top of the mountain for lunch and pics and views, I don't suppose you can do that with points card can you? I may be wrong, I dont know how the points work, I just always get full thing.

Thanks for your replies.

I dug a little more and according to user Papa Goose on this thread , the Snow and Rail doesn't cover the points car/lifts.

But he's the only one so far who mentioned this so probably I'll go ahead and get the snow and rail pass.

Thanks

I am not sure if thats what Papagoose meant, or if in any event that is correct.

The snow and rail will give you a full resort pass. You can use it anywhere on the mountain. I know this for a fact, as despite never having previously used the T-bars at Flumserberg, I had a friend and his girl visit for Xmas and she was complete beginner so spent the whole two days in that section and we did some runs there with her throughout day in between exploring the whole resort.

Its chf 20 difference between a full lift pass and a tbar only lift pass if you can work that into the equation of how much you save on a train ticket. I have no idea what points are.

I also agree with JBZ I would go for the full card as the tbars can get icy and the Chruz Piste blue run is serviced by a chairlift and if you can stop and turn and handle those tbars you can probable handle Chruz piste. It`s a great gentle beginners slope and the snow will likely be better (softer) than on those tbars.

Correction its 24chf I was looking Monday to Friday. I`d never seen the points but 30 points for chf36 gets access to the Tbars and lift B2. Is B2 Chruz lift? I can't find the letters for the lifts online and I can't find my piste map quickly looked. Is it 1 point per ride? If so that could easily be cheapest option as I can't see you getting more than 15 runs in one day so it could cover 2 days. Depends how many points to ride. Would be curious to know the answer also.

Edit B2 is Chruz chairlift so if it is 1 point per ride I would consider the 30 point card. From what I read they carry over. In theory I reckon you go close to 2 days skiing on that unless you go around and around on the tbars and then maybe only 1. Even at 2 points for the chairlift 8 runs for a beginner would be close to a day.

Yes, B2 is the Chruz lift? but the points ticket does not include the gondola from Unterterzen so unless you drive up.

There is a day pass that includes the T-Bars and the ride from Unterterzen but that is 39CHF.

A comment that probably is worth making is although the piste down from the top of the Chruz lift is an easy blue, it's a funnel for all the red and black runs further up and all the fast skilled (and not so skilled) skiers and boards come down this to get to Tannenboden.

It can be off-putting for a beginner to be on this slope.

The T-bars are a lot more relaxing from that aspect.

But, if it's T-bars that you want then there are better and cheaper places to go to than Flumersberg.

Speaking of T-bars, have you been to Andermatt???

My god, that has to be the longest t-bar lift I have ever seen. A T-bar, that takes you up about 500m from 2,000 to 2,500, on black slop gradients. When you get to the top, you are busted. Then have the choice of two black runs to choose once you make it.

Loved Andermatt, was brilliant skiing last week, and thats a place for t-bars.....................but definitely not for beginners.

Where does one buy the Points card if I decide not to get the Snow N Rail? At SBB or on the slopes at Flumserberg?

Also, last week when I went there for the first time with friends, there were two long lines of people waiting. One at the small office-like building at the bottom of the flight of stairs and the second line started at the booth near the entrance gates at the top of the stairs. Any one has any idea what the difference between these queues are? I'll be going alone tomorrow so I wanna join the correct line!

I was going to ask what you thought of Andermatt. Can you avoid the t-bars? I hate being on my feet all day and that would put it on the no go list.

I don`t think there is any difference between the hut and the other windows. If in doubt line up for one of the other two windows up the stairs. The hut is not always open when it`s not so busy (like today when we arrived) so I am pretty sure it`s just a third window for when it`s busy.

If you find out more about the points I would be interested when you can use it on Chruz lift if it`s 1 point per ride or more. That might be a good deal for the other half.

I doubt you can get a points card, a return trip to Unterterzen on the train, and a return gondola ticket from Unterterzen to Tannenboden from SBB. If you could get a train ticket that includes the gondola ride from Unterterzen to Tannenboden and the train then you could avoid queuing at the bottom and go straight up the gondola and buy the points ticket ski pass or the tbar lift ski pass at Tannenboden where the line would be shorter.
