Anyway to stop this popup appearing on Tagesanzeiger web page?On PC.
Try clicking on that X in the upper right corner of the box? ![]()
I want it to stop it appearing every minute and not just click it away.
Browser setting include something like "Block pop-ups’ which may be sufficient.
If not, then Ad-blockers have been around for years, can be installed with just a couple of mouse clicks in virtually any browser. How long have you been using the internet that you’re not aware of them?
There are a number of them, but uBlock Origin has been my blocker of choice for the last few years. https://ublockorigin.com/
Recently some browsers have caved in to the bullies like google and started restricting some of these blockers’ functions, notably Firefox with Youtube , so I’ve shifted to Brave browser instead, https://brave.com/ , which has a built-in ad blocker, making it even easier. (I run eBlock Origin on it as well, as it allows custom blocking of certain elements so can make oft-used pages display more neatly).
Of course I know about ad blockers. But what pops up on https://www.tagesanzeiger.ch/ is not an ad but an annoying abo reminder which is also becoming more like an ad.
Looks like an ad to me, but anyway the ad blockers work the same whether it’s an actual advert or not.
I get 20-odd elements blocked on that page, but I don’t see the one you mention even if I turn the blockers off. So I can’t test it but it normally possible with my adblocker to right click on the offending popup and add it to the list of blocked addressees.
Or is this actually a paywall thing? Sometimes news sites make it impossible to block them and get free access, maybe it kicks in after a certain number of page views or something? If so then you’ll just have to find a better free news source.
With Adblock, sometimes you can right-click on a pop-up and you can manually move the scale/slider to hide it in future. Sometimes it’s a bit hit-and-miss but it mostly works with all sorts of pop-ups which aren’t adverts.
Nothing stops that abo popup unless of course one has the abo. Yes its a paywall thing.
NZZ is the same.https://www.nzz.ch/. One has to first click on an article.
Does not work.
Could have saved some time if you’d said that in the first place.
“Abo” was meaningless without the context.
