Amazon packages can be sent to a DHL post office in Germany to be picked up, at no extra cost. The only problem is that the receiver of the package needs to provide a "Postnummer" for which apparently one needs an address in Germany.
To those who have used this service:
- Is it really free?
- Is there any acceptable solution for this Post number thing when one does not live in Germany?

No idea what the code is where you need a German address though.
I’m not sure if this would work, but we order stuff from amazon.de that is delivered to Germany at GrenzPaket in Waldshut-Tiengen, just over the border (They have other locations as well).
So when I place my order on amazon.de for stuff that doesn’t ship here to CH, I use the GrenzPaket address (but my name). You have to sign up with them first, which is free, and then it’s just 5 Euros to pick up a package from them. They accept large packages too (e.g. flat pack furniture). But maybe if you signed up with them then you could use their post code when you have a delivery to DHL? (Not sure…)
- The recipients name and address must be on the package for it to be delivered to the address.
- Returns etc.. will be problematic since they need to be sent back by the recipient from Germany.
I signed up over a couple of years ago with my Swiss address.
Funny aside, I waited a long time for them to send me the official Postcard. When I wanted to complain there was advice to not complain. Then I did a google search and discovered they no longer send out the cards.
You just turn up at the post office of your choice and show your Swiss Ausweis.
People who sell via Amazon mostly will not send to a Post Office.
