I have searched the forum history and didn't find a similar thread, but if I missed, please point it out to me.
I got a job in a university as a postdoc researcher, currently I have a normal B work permit (hope I get it right as it is written "ANMERKUNGEN Mit Erwerbstätigkeit"), my questions are:
1. will I get a student B permit or a normal B work permit if I accept the university postdoc job? will the employment be a standard non-EU hiring (my employer needs to specify the reason why he takes me)?
2. how to know if the B permit is a student one? will it write something like "Ausbildung mit Erwerbstätigkeit" on the card?
3. if I get a student B permit, will my spouse be eligible to work? with normal B work permit, I know there is no problem, but don't know the rule for student B permit holder's spouse.
appreciated for your help!
As a former Postdoc in Geneva...
1) you will get a student permis B. ‘Formation avec activite’ or the German équivalent that you wrote. It will be the Non-EU process/forms but unlike the normal process they don’t really have to show anything in regards to completion/job listings. They are outside the quota.
2) it will be written at the bottom of the permis.
3) from a colleagues experience, yes they are able to work if they are able to find a job. Note their expiry dates are linked to yours.
thanks for the detailed information.
I asked some friends in Zurich, they said that they get normal work permit B as a postdoc, as it was written as “ANMERKUNGEN Mit Erwerbstätigkeit”, on the card, not "Ausbildung mit Erwerbstätigkeit", the question is whether “ANMERKUNGEN Mit Erwerbstätigkeit” is referring to a normal B work permit or not? Maybe nowadays the authority gives postdoc a normal B work permit? "Ausbildung mit Erwerbstätigkeit" definitely looks like a student B permit.
