Pregnancy on international insurance

1) Yes it is.

2) Did you already went to a hospital to make ultrasound?

If no, then - just show them what you have right now. They will explain you what to do (go to information desk. NOTE - if you want better treatment in every sence, go to University Hospital)

3) You can go to hospital tomorrow (monday) to start monitoring the pregnancy. Go to a birth centre (anyway, wherever you go, they will redirect you there). Ambulance costs 780 francs for pregnancy (Zurich), so I would suggest you taking taxi. Taxi is better in terms they drive more accurate, as ambulance rushes full gas and make her scare.

Why do you want to stay in hospital before giving birth? As a precaution (na sohranenie?) ? If you have medical condition in which you have to stay in hospital then doctors will put you in, no question (it is called prenatal department). Otherwise, I dont understand your question.

I would strongly recomend you cancelling your tradistuff insurance and move to CSS Assurance for example which is for me worked perfectly.

As pointed out by others, the cover on all basic insurance (including Tradiconsult) will be exactly the same, regardless of which company you choose....

...the only thing that might be different is whether or not you have to pay yourself and then get reimbursed and how long any reimbursement would take.

I just had a baby and was covered by a "student"-type insurance (CSS Studentcare). Everything was charged straight to the insurance company and so I never had to pay a thing. In addition, the premiums are pretty much/exactly the same as Tradiconsult.

You could change to CSS Studentcare ( https://www.css.ch/fr/home/unternehm...dent_care.html ), but beware that you would probably have to give a certain amount of notice etc to Tradiconsult before cancelling your cover.

As far as cover for the baby goes (or any other insurance questions/quotes) I would HIGHLY recommend "Jenny" from this forum (mentioned earlier). She is fantastic at answering questions, explaining all the tricky stuff and finding the best deal.

As far as your other questions go: Not sure how far along your girlfriend is, but you probably have some time, so don't panic. As all basic insurance cover is the same, you have time to sort it out and the doctor and hospital will be able to explain a lot to you if you ask them.

As for the ambulance to the hospital....ha! not really done here unless there is something seriously wrong.....my midwife told me I could just take the bus

I don't think you can have 2 insurance for the same period here in Switzerland. So you need to cancel Tradiconsult if you really want to first, and to do that you need your school insurance advisor. And in the case of non responsive advisor, try to talk to her again nicely for more information and your choices. If that's fail, I would go for her boss like the school director or something and talk to him about your case, for his advise and how disappointed you are with the consultation that you got from the advisor.

I'm not sure how Tradiconsult works for you/ other students from your school, but for me.. every time I go to the doctor or apothecary for prescriptions, all I need to do was just show the insurance card. They will bill it directly to Tradiconsult and I never saw the bills at all, don't even know how much they cost.. but again, I never need to go to a Hospital so......
