I moved into a new apartment at the end of last year - it was a new build. Ive found that the floor tiles are staining in a weird kind of way.
I've attached a picture of an area of the tiles where my daughter dropped some tabasco sauce a couple of months ago (this is a picture right after i've mopped the area).
Basically, the stain itself is gone - but its left a mark on the surface of the tiles which never disappears no matter how much you scrub it. and it looks awful when the light catches on the tile. Its actually only visible when the light catches it at an angle. If you were to stand over the tile you wouldnt know that this mark exists.
Does anyone know what the problem is, and how i can get rid of it?
I think an 'either, or'. I don't have any experience with travetine, but I recall, when I was growing up, we had a lot of terrcotta tiles in our house. These were originally sealed with a varnish like substance, which my mother hated and I recall her spending hours stripping the varnish off and then resealing with a wax or oil.
This was many years ago, but I'm sure there must be many products available and I can't imagine it's a complex task.
