Procedure for Sonata For Fibroid Removal

Hi All,

I need advice on how much does Sonata Surgery cost in Switzerland. Approximately. I have a surgery scheduled in Jan. I asked my insurance, they have no clue about the cost neither does the hospital as well, .

Has anyone done Sonata Surgery for Fibroid removal in Switzerland.

Thanks

Iqimat

Welcome to the Forum.

If the surgery is scheduled, then surely the hospital has a procedure code for it. Hospitals don't randomly do surgeries without knowing how much it will cost. Insurances don't pre-approve paying for surgeries without knowing the cost.

This clinic seems to do the procedure, maybe call them and ask for a quote?

Keep in mind that any surgery is subject to your franchise/deductible and any co-payment. Given that we're only 17 days into January you probably haven't maxed those out yet. So you will probably have some out-of-pocket costs.

Good luck, both with the surgery and sorting payment.

Edit - I've not had the surgery and I don't know anything about the clinic I linked. I found them with a Google search.

I don't know if it's the same for surgery, but when I was in hospital, there was a daily charge, and the daily charge covered everything... ie MRI scans, CT Scans, procedures and even an helicopter transfer between hospitals. so regardless of what treatment I had each day, the charge was the same. (Accident not illness if that makes a difference).

Hi Iqmat,

Have you been able to find a good hospital for that in Switzerland? How much did it cost? Were you satisfied with the treatment? My sister is looking for same. Does this require general anesthesia? Thanks for your response.

I was told 4k at tremli

I'd never heard of the term Sonata Surgery before, and after looking it up, I'm wondering if it's the same type of procedure I had done for fibroids years ago in Winterthur, where they basically used a laser to break up the fibroid. If so, that procedure was very experimental at the time (and in fact, I think Winterthur hospital was only one of the very few places in the entire world that was doing it back then), but as far as I know, my insurance covered it. It was much cheaper than having a hysterectomy or myomectomy and required no hospital stay afterward.

If the Sonata Surgery is indeed the same thing as laser ablation for fibroids, it did shrink my fibroid but it grew large again years later. I actually recently read that studies have found that low vitamin D appears to cause fibroids to grow and that stress can as well (!). And my vitamin D is too low every time I have it checked.

Anyways, if Sonata Surgery is the same thing as the laser ablation surgery that I had, please feel free to send me a message if you have any questions or anything. And I really hope that it is a success for you and that it's covered by your insurance! Maybe your doctor / the hospital could even contact your insurance for you to see if they will cover it?
