For L permit, how many days it will take to issue authorization letter for Zurich canton, as per timelines it says 6 to 8 weeks, will it take really that long, my petition got filed on 13-Nov. When can i expect the approval for the same.
Can anybody respond over here, considering a vacation period(moslty in Decemeber) for cantonal authorities, how many days it will take to get an authorization approval letter.
You can try contacting the authorities directly to check they received it and ask for an estimate which will depend on resources and case load at this time.

Hi, if it’s for a job, ask the employer who applied. There’s usually some back-and-forth with documents or information before a decision is made. Once the canton approves the application, it moves to federal approval before issuing the authorisation letter. A timeline of 6 to 8 weeks is quite realistic.

Thanks Birmi for the explanation, as petition was filed by some lawyer my employer also not aware of the application status. I agree for the communication back and forth b/w employer and Canton authorities, the docs were thoroughly checked and validated at my employer end.
I heard for L pemits they usually don’t take much time, it can take max 2 to 4 weeks, considering christmas eve/holidays I am expecting it to be before Dec 20th. Hoping for the best.
Yes, employers typically apply through a lawyer. They must justify hiring you over a Swiss or EU citizen by providing evidence like job advertisements, applications received, and interviews conducted. Hi all, Finally received L.pemrit …it took exactly 5 weeks of time… Have received permit just before the Christmas.
