We are moving to Vevey area this summer and are wondering if we should take our outdoor gas grill over in the shipment. Can you buy propane tanks to fit US grills in Switzerland? Thanks in advance for anyone who has an answer to this!
A little tip, use the search function - these are questions that are typically asekd before... and don't change over time.
Answer:
- No. EU gas tanks have different connectors as we have the metric system which includes the size of all types of screws.
- No problem, you can find adapters for US grills to fit EU bottles to them. Looks like this: http://www.santosgrills.de/adapter-g...er-p-1394.html
I-l-l.....
Unless you're gonna be here for a long, long time don't bother... Something like that is big, bulky and stupid to ship over the pond; pop into France and buy a new one...
Also, no don't bother shipping your TV, DVDs, BluRay players etc...
We have a gas grill from the US that we'd like to bring with us in our move to Geneva if it is usable there. Does anyone know if they sell propane tanks that screw onto the gas grills made in america?
You need this adapter:
Website says it is for US-Germany. Is Switzerland the same as Germany in terms of propane?
US, Myanmar, Liberia = no metric system
Europe, rest of the world = metric system
I bought that ridiculously overpriced adapter for 30 euros, they charged another 28 euros to post it to Switzerland as they only ship to Germany and Austria and one other country and then I got charged 33 CHF customs tax. Then I find it doesn't connect to the Swiss propane tank because the swiss tank adapter is a little bit smaller than the german one. However the US side fits perfectly without a problem.
I had no trouble getting a Swiss propane hose for my Weber Q100 grill. Every country seems to have its own propane bottle connector. Hornbach (and probably others) sells Weber products adapted to the Swiss market. It seems to me I got the hose though at Coop Brico Loisirs.
The bottle side connector is country specific. The German and Swiss bottles are different. Some German connector may fit on a Swiss bottle, but gas can leak throught.
The grill side connector is often 1/4" (That's a quarter inch, even in Europe)
Have you tried tightening it counterclockwise? I thought the same thing when I went to install my adapter then realized it was threaded the other way around. And just for the record I bought mine from grillshop.at and have a Weber Genesis...using Socar tank from Jumbo.
