Sorry, but there is a difference between a psychiatrist and a psychologist...
I can recommend Dr. J. Oehler at Stauffacher (the entrance is next to the Walder shoe store there.
Another great place to start and get assistance in finding the right (english-speaking) psychiatrist is the Dept. of Psychiatry of the Zürich University Clinic.
PM me for Dr. Oehler's phone number and you can then tell her how you got it..

Just to elaborate on that...
You'll need a psychiatrist for prescriptions, referrals to any type of clinic and for the insurance to definitely pay the costs. Psychiatrists charge anything from 200 to 300 Francs an hour, of which you will have to pay ten percent after the "Franchise".
Psychologists/psychotherapists are normally only covered when they work together with a psychiatrist, who will have to see you every once in a while to sign a paper that is accepted by your health insurance. A one-hour session will cost between 120 and 160 Francs.
As for the English, I second the suggestion of contacting the "Psychiatrische Universitätsklinik" as there is often a problem with getting an appointment if you just call a psychiatrist directly as a "layman". This could be risky in a more urgent situation.

Barish! I've since learned you don't need any sort of a psychiatrist...there are about a million of them on here!
Sadly we can't dispense drugs, which is sometimes necessary.
the cost would be horrific......are you mad!
Should have mentioned above that Dr. Oehler is a great resource within Zurich since she used to be chief resident at the University Clinic, she knows who's who and what's what, so if she doesn't have space available she will be able to recommend people to you.

I know you're talking here (or maybe were talking) about english speaking psychiatrists, but maybe some of you know polish speaking psychiatrists in Zurich or around. I know there is some polish psychiatrist in Bern, but my friend who is looking for think it's too far for him. I really want to help him so if anyone knows something, please let me know.
