Public transport Adliswil / Zurich and Silver coast

I am arriving in Adliswil next week and will start looking for properties all over the area.

That means I'll be travelling a lot by train and trams and I am not sure what's the best way to save some money in the process.

I have been told about the half-fare card, but I am pretty ignorant when it comes to how the tickets/area system works.

Should I do a "daily ticket" when I have several viewings? Should I pay as you go when I have just 1 or 2?

How does the pricing/ticket change if I get to Zurich to Adliswil, Adliswil to Horgen and then back to Zurich for example?

I think this would answer most of your questions https://www.zvv.ch/zvv/de/home.html

My advice would be to buy a monthly ticket to your desired areas and then look into getting yearly passes. With corona these days not everyone is expected to be in the office every day.

0. Getting Halbtax is a very reasonable thing to do, if you are going to stay for a couple of weeks at least. Best value when used annually.

1. For several (more than 2) trips in a 24 hours span getting a 24H ticket makes a lot of sense: it costs as much as 2 separate trips in most cases. It lasts 24 hours, so for a ticket bought at noon you can use it for your afternoon and evening trips on one day and even the whole next morning.

2. Another option for complex or unpredictable trips is a check-in ticket with ZVV, SBB or alternative apps, which is a good choice with only one unfortunate flaw: it always cuts at 5AM, so 24 hours ticket is sometimes more cost efficient.

3. Adliswil is Zone 150, Horgen is Zone 151. Full list (and maps) can be found here:

4. There is also Albis 24H Ticket, which sometimes is the best option moving between Zurich and Horgen, when you happen to have some other business in Dietikon, Uetliberg or Birmensdorf.

Thank you.

If I purchase the half-fare card, do I get 50% discount on all the single, 24h and Albis tickets?

So the Zone allocations make certain things clearer, however:

- I could not find the price of the Albis ticket anywhere on the website.

What if I have to travel across 2-3 zones, but they could differ depending on a specific day.

Is there a daily pass that allows me to travel let's say Zurich - Adliswil - Horgen?

Or at that point would be more useful to just get single ticket?

I have been trying to navigate the ZVV website but some sections seem to be only in German.
