Purchase of Parking Space (Einstellplatz)

May I please ask for the wisdom of the EF with regard to the purchase of a parking space?

I am not totally sure what risks I should be considering for this!?

For sure, I will ask what are the monthly outgoings, because I am sure that owners of parking spaces need to pay some contribution to the running costs, plus to contribute into any maintenance fund.

I was also concerned about any plans to fit electric car chargers in the garage, because it is often necessary to pay to upgrade the electrical connection to the garage before the car chargers can even be connected to the mains, and this can be an expensive exercise.

Finally, I was also wondering whether a parking space makes any sense these days as an investment, because I would see the risk that we'll all be doing car-sharing in a few years' time, and no-one will own their own car anymore. Although maybe in a well-off country like Switzerland, that's not so much of a risk?

Anyway, I would appreciate any EFs' input to this topic!

Is it a parking space associated with your house/apartment in which case you are unlikely to see any increase in your monthly outgoings?

I do not see the Swiss going for car sharing, there is very little sharing of anything here. More likely we will have businesses like Mobility expanding.

The parking space is in a different block, not far away. But it's separate from where we live now, and managed by a different Verwaltung, so I don't have any insight into the costs / outgoings. You're totally right, if the spaces would be in the same block as where we live, there wouldn't be much of an increase in our outgoings, plus we should already have some idea of the likely future costs (plus we have voting rights for any proposed expenditure, whereas if you ONLY own parking spaces, your voting rights are probably only 0.05% of the total STWEG votes!)
