I am quite new to this forum. i have a small question regarding Withholding tax/quellensteuer. I am having a B permit ( Family) and have been working since April 2015 in Zurich and living with my husband ( who is having a C resident permit) in Basel. My employer has been deducting " Quellensteuer" from my monthly salary.
Now my husband was preparing the tax declaration for 2015 and we found that we have to enter details and salary statements for both of us and the Tax is been calculated for combined salary even though I paid it monthly as " Quellensteuerabzug".
Confirming the above, Canton Vaud tax office says that a married couple, where one has a C permit or is a Swiss citizen, is to be taxed under the ordinary process and that source tax is not to be raised:
Similar thing happened to me in Basel. In the tax declaration you also give your tax statement so that they know how much quellensteuer you have paid. And this will be deducted from the tax bill that is calculated.
Eventhough it took some time, yet i received some answers finally.
I contacted Quellensteueramt in Liestal and they said i have to ask my employer to return back the Quellensteuer they deducted so far. I informed this my employer and since last month they are not deducting any Quellensteuer anymore and they said that they will return my Quellensteuer from previous months.
I dont understand why they did like that so far . I had informed my employer in the very beginning that my Husband is having a C Niederlassungsbewilligung.
Anyways thankyou all once again for your helpful replies.
