Questions for car drivers

What annoys me most with cyclists is when they have tour d france delusions of grandeur and pedal in the middle of the road next to a perfectly good cycle-path.

As I said, maybe they felt you would be putting other road users at risk so decided to ā€œpoliceā€ your speed.

And besides, I personally disagree with road users, whether cyclists or car drivers, attempting to ā€œpoliceā€ or dictate when other cars should slow down or overtake etc.

A few moments later…

Why not start a new thread on why you hate cyclists?

I’m sure it will be a popular one.

Ya, particularly the ones in cars with flashing blue lights and a siren. Or those bar stewards when traffic is slowing down they hit their four way flashers. Shouldn’t be allowed!

It always depends.

If the traffic up ahead is queuing and at a stop, braking early, gently and slowing to a stop is preferable to driving at full speed towards the queuing vehicles and slamming on your brakes at the last minute - especially if there is HGV behind you with the driver’s eyes half on the road, and half on the social media he is scrolling.

That is dictating when other cars should slow down.

I’m beginning to think you’re @KingKong’s re-incarnation because he was an inexperienced driver too whose idea of driving was completely the opposite of that taught to the Police and others.

Such hazards should be banned! At least put warning lights on em.

In my experience here in Europe, on especially steep sections of national routes or motorways, an extra lane is provided marked for slow vehicles such as HGVs.

No need for flashing lights, or drama, or raised blood pressure - your journey won’t be delayed.

Especially when you and the blocker are the only 2 cars on the highway.

No, I dont hate cyclists, believe it or not I have a cycle that I love to bits, a massive ex-DDR frame, shimano dodahs and hand built wheels that dont fold up like the paperclip you stuck in your ear this afternoon.
I am however tired of arrogant cycists with the built in attitude of superiority whizzing along without a care in the world and totally oblivious of traffic. Do you know how much damage a cyclist would cause to a predatory panel van with Polish plates?
Non whatsoever.

Apparently it’s called the primary road position.
