Any recommendations of brands and which one to purchase?
So I want to make a quiche and would like to buy a crust but I'm not sure which ready made ones are the best?
i always buy the Blaetterteig from Coop (not prix garantie, the one in the green packaging). works fine for me, just dont have the oven on too hot or the crust gets dark brown
Blaetterteig is more like puff/flaky pastry and I have used them some smaller party size quiches.
The other one is Kuchenteig - again Coop brand, but is in a blue wrapper. The pastry is more like shortcrust. It is not sweet despite the French version calling it Pate a gateau. I use this one a lot for my bigger quiches and tarte au fromage.
I use kuchentieg. Coop even sell it in a ready made quiche/tart shape!
But you may have to go to the bigger branch to find them.
Or why not make your own?
Migros also do a good one. And i found that i didnt have to blind bake it either.
Just look at the packet. They have a sweet one or a normal one.
Indeed...Short pastry is by far the simplest pastry to make and far better than purchasing one...unless you are a fan of artificial flavourings, mystery fats and preservatives that is.
Agreed 100%. Homemade is tons better than bought. Switch half of the butter for lard (Schweinefett) if you want a crumblier base.
