Quick COVID PCR test for baby - Travel Reason

Hi all,

I'm sure some of you had to do it, so looking for an advice.

We are traveling this upcoming weekend, and our travel destination does require PCR test for all (independent of vaccination), including our 9 months baby.

Any experience with this, and would you recommend a place where you get best speed (and possibly best price).

We spoke with medikids, but they give a range 24-48 hours (probably not good enough) and price of approx. CHF 131.

Any other experiences? Thanks!

That price sounds about right and the time also sounds about right - I would recommend simply calling your Paediatrician's office to see what they recommend.

I'd recommend calling the company doing the tests in the Airport. They are a lot faster for a result and I would think that at some point they've been asked to test a baby.

Seems possible with them, CHF 99 for kids.

to be honest, unless it is an absolute emergency, I would not put a baby through this, honest.

My toddler had to have a PCR for travel. It was done from the throat, not the nose and was not in any way traumatic. I'm sure it will be fine. Babies are way more cooperative than toddlers, so you'll be fine.

Let us know how you go at Checkpoint at the airport. We went to our pediatrician last time, but it won't be an option the next time we travel.

Their website says they do only kids over 12. Is that not true?

Yes, looks like they are not updating their website. It was also like this when I got my kids (1 year and 6 years old) tested. I would suggest giving them a call beforehand.
