Hello Everyone..I’ll be moving to Zurich in couple of weeks and looking for quickest option to get Internet.
Initially, I’ll be working from home in Zurich and this need Internet connection from Day-1. I understand getting a regular home Internet might take some time (city registration, Internet Contract, Installation and so on).
Are there any ready to use Internet Options available that’ll work with laptop. If I am not mistaken Internet through Lebara / Lyca can’t be used with laptop as these providers disable personal hotspot option.
Looking for suggestion.
Thanks
If it is the city of Zürich, then most probably your apartment has already a ready-to-work fiber connection installation. Easily recognizable on base of the physical presence of the so called OTO plug.
In that case, activation of subscription can be pretty fast, less than a week, maybe 2 weeks.
In that case -if still too long to wait- I would go on a (real) prepaid mobile solution over LTE, with no subscription attached. You'll have to bring along the LTE equipment, a cheap LTE router costs around 100CHF, but connection is available for 2CHF/day or something in that range. No big deal.
Pretty sure you will need to be registered here first - for example you could order a Yallo box (
https://www.yallo.ch/en/home-internet-offer ) but I am pretty sure they take a photo of your permit for proof of address.
Any chance of getting someone to buy one for you? Landlord, work, etc?
sim card and hotspot.

even quicker if you buy a roaming package for your existing sim card and use your phone.
Yep. Look into what mobile provider you would like now, then pop to one of their shops when you arrive and get it sorted!
Thanks Everyone for your responses.
Based on your ideas, I also did some further googling and found another option.

Any experience with this one? I am not looking for a long term contract as for that I'll anyway be looking for a traditional home internet fixed line set up.
Currently, my need is for a temporary set up that can start from Day-1 and can be terminated once I have a long term home internet set up done.
Salt prepaid for example:
https://www.salt.ch/en/prepay/# I strongly suggest true prepaid without ANY subscription, unlike the above proposed 24-month-chaining-in solution of sunrise or also "your" travelerswifi that needs a cancellation.
when i got here i asked my german speaking girlfriend to ask the neighbour to borrow the wifi password until we got set up. this was a fast easy and free way to get internet.
was also quite amusing as the neighbour stuttered, blushed and made excuses about his childish room mate when he revealed that the password was along the lines of 'suck my d'
Take a coffee break at McDonalds.
