Is there any details or specification on what can be expected during quiet hours?
It's clear no loud music or screaming or banging walls is allowed but what about walking and talking, being awake in general after 10 pm?
I would like to stick to the quiet hours requirements of course but I will not go to bed at 10pm and want to know if I have rights to circulate in my house with no shoes and speak on normal voice levels...
I think it's written in Swiss law that during quiet time, any noise above 10dB (the volume of normal breathing) is strictly NOT allowed. Get yourself a sound level meter or you'll be looking at a hefty fine one of these days!
Normal household noise is ok. And despite other opinions, the normal sound of children playing and going about their usual activities, is unlikely to bring the attention of the local police...who have much better things to do...
It's not really defined anywhere. It's just common-sense. If it's loud and constant and it's late evening, and it would piss you off, it's probably going to piss other people off, too.
In your contract it probably gives a guideline of activities to avoid after 10pm, but it's not rocket science.
If you smile sweetly at your neighbours, and show yourself to be a model citizen, they'll overlook any amount of crashing and banging at three o'clock in the morning. Particularly true when it's Fastnacht: three o'clock is a perfectly reasonably time to get up and make breakfast.
Doesn't quite work like that here. I have tried... It's mostly walking and speaking, no playing kids, music or shoes that's why I would like to dig a lil bit deeper and find out what's within the regulations
