Can anyone access Radio 5 Live on their iPhone when it is broadcasting sport?

I get the message that owing to rights issues, it cannot be accessed.

I have tried using a VPN and changing the location on my phone, I have also tried a few different radio apps, but without any success.

Any advice?

I'm not much of a radio listener (apart from no-talk classic rock stations) but certainly a lot of sports-related sound as well as video clips from the bbc home page will not work outside of the UK.

Not sure exactly how they do theor geolocation these days, but using a VPN to bypass it stopped working some years ago (on BBC iplayer, for example) so I wouldn't waste any more time on that.

Thanks - I will try that. Perhaps a website rather than an app is more effective

I just tried now with the free version of TuneIn radio on iPhone..

BBC 5 live is working fine for me on Swisscom, no VPN or tricks.

But it stops working when they broadcast certain sporting events due to rights restrictions. We have a GGA Maur tv subscription and we can therefore get 5 live on the tv unrestricted. Might be a plan B if there is something you really want to listen to.

Yes, as soon as a restricted sport comes on, the coverage stops

The joy of geographical restrictions.. Which you can't easily/legally get around. VPN / DNS tricks work for a while but then stop working.

Find another source who are broadcasting the event?

Sign up to an IPTV service? (couple of threads on that here) those show pretty much all of the premium sports / events and also have radio and work on iPhone.
