I was looking for a phone here and thought orange'a pay and go seemed decent with it's 15 francs a month for 1gb of internet.... Oh how wrong was I..
Fitst it turns out it's not 1gb a month. It's 33mb a day. And they don't carry over.
Next it turns out that calls and texts apparently cost a small fortune. I haven't done that much at all yet somehow I've drained all 40 francs on my phone in a month.
There is nothing constructive here. I am just moaning. However I hope somebody searching will stumble on this and learn to steer clear of orange. They lie and they suck.
Light internet use and a rate of using calls and text that meant I could make £5 last a year in the UK= what was advertised on paper seemed perfect for me.
My subscription with Orange ends at the end of this month and I'm porting my number over to Lycamobile. They use the Swisscom network so have better coverage.
33mb a day? i dont think so, i would have preferred that as just this month i had a rogue app eat through 485mb in 2 days then some stupidity had me streaming a a film over 3g instead of wifi, so i'm almost out of data 4days into my allowance
I agree with you. Not the fruit or the brand, but the organisation operating under that name in Switzerland.
Their customer care is terrible.
If you want a fantastic data service just get a Lebara prepay SIM for CHF10 which includes CHF 20 of calls, and you can get 1Gbyte for CHF 14.90. They are part of the Sunrise network which I am happy with. I get 5Mbps inside my office in Lausanne. I used to get less than 512kbps with Orange. Their international calls to landlines are extremely cheap too. And their customer care well "cares". (Take note Orange CH)
There are always warnings about people credit being destroyed by internet connections, roaming charges etc.
My son has his credit wiped out by one of these thieving ring tone companies, despite my many warnings on the subject. Of course he doesn't even remember "signing up" for it. I filed a complaint (as well as sending an e-mail to express my opinion). Waiting to hear if it has been sorted. In the meantime I don't dare put any credit on his phone.
ref Windolin.com (complaints go to another site, echovox.com)
I also ported from Orange (Postpay) to Lycamobile (Prepaid).
With CHF 19,- per Month, i get 300 min free call and 300 free SMS to any CH and EU number. Also 1 Gb Data included. But i use it mainly to call family and friends abroad (cheap international call - CHF 0.29 connection fee per each call though).
I understand this is a rant but I have only had good service from Orange. Not perfect but good.
I was late for a bill once and they never caused any issues for late payment. I have had great service from the outlet near HB. I get 4G from them in my office where Swisscom only gives Edge, same at my house.
I have exactly the same issues from Orange and will consider moving too, fed up with bad service everywhere in Zug (losing 4/3g signal all the time and onerous charges for calls/texts)
you probably didn't read the conditions? if you want 1 gb per month i don't think a prepaid is viable, look into m-budget prepaid and abo i was considering those before my conditions changed (had to go for swisscom infinity).
