Quick question: my company is forcing me onto a new contract with worse terms and conditions. I'm reluctant to sign and was wondering if I would be able to claim RAV if I don't sign and let my contract expire.
I also have a citizenship application in the works. Would this be affected by claiming RAV?
Any help would be appreciated
You'll probably get a penalty as you would be voluntarily jobless. Best to accept the offer and start looking for a new job as soon as possible.

It will almost certainly affect your RAV payments if you refuse somehow or another.
It shouldn't affect citizenship application.
My suggestion, sign the new contract and get looking for something else quickly !
Agreed. Consider requesting an interim Arbeitszeugnis at the same time, as the worse conditions may adversely affect your selfmotivation and thus performance.
I'm not sure how this is generally handled, but I'd want the notice period taken over from the old contract.
Assuming you have a normal open-ended contract...
If you refuse to agree the employer would have to give you notice if they didn't like it therefore you could register with RAV then it would be up to them to determine if the alternative offer would be reasonable. You would have to formally refuse to agree but this is not the same as resigning.
It is not about whether the other offer is reasonable or not, it's about saving money. If the OP refuses and forces the employer to terminate his contract as opposed to accepting the offer and go looking for another job, they can expect to receive a penalty. Any time you deliberately cause your employer to terminate you can expect to receive a penalty.
If the OP were to take this approach, she/he would have to be prepared to lie on some forms. The unemployment insurance expects one to minimize the damage, hence the fines.
Let's say the new terms are 25% pay. You don't know that it isn't.

Not only would the OP have to lie but the employer would as well.
