I have searched but unfortunately not been able to find a definitive answer.
Situation:
Currently employed by a UK company in UK. Thinking of taking up a job in Switzerland, but worried about what happens if I were to be fired before 12 months.
Pre-Brexit, when the UK was part of the EU, the social security contributions I am currently making in the UK would count towards RAV, so if I was fired, I would still be entitled to RAV.
This is still the case for other EU countries, e.g. working for > 12 months in Germany, take up a job in CH, would still be entitled to RAV.
I cannot see anywhere that definitively rules out or affirms the case for the UK.
Thanks in advance.
The issue will be more that you are non EU and it will be much more difficult to get a permit?
Sorry in advance................Hopebob !
OP, sorry but I don’t actually see any specific question in your original post???
According to the RAV - https://info-rav-zh.ch/de/#/id/6242c41df6e6470383f4db43 (exceptions section) -
"You can get unemployment benefits if you have been unable to work for at least 12 months within the last 2 years because of one of the following situations:
…You worked abroad (outside the EU or EFTA area). Then you can be considered an exception under certain circumstances. Check with your unemployment fund."
Maybe you can check with the RAV and come back to let everyone know how it goes?
I can get a permit through my spouse - so will not be an issue.
Thanks for the link.
So like many things in CH is "maybe".
I’m about to go through the same process. Worked for a UK co for 12 of last 24 months. The co is not registered in CH so I’ve been paying social security through ANOBAG. I understand that I have some entitlement under RAV but I’m in the early stages still. Feel free to message me if you’d like to connect and exchange notes.
Seems all good with the new social security agreement
