It is called KAISERBARSCH in German and apparently you can get it at BRASCHLER'S COMESTIBLEs at the Viadukt Market ( if you are there go and get some yummy cheese from the EF's own cheesemonger too )
Isn't that the deep sea fish which lives to 150 years old... doesn't start reproducing until it is 20 years of age... is a by product of deep sea bottom trawling... was renamed "Orange roughy" by some US marketing men to improve its value from the less gastronomically-appealing "slime head"... is on all the overfishing, unsustainable species lists because it's very easy to trawl them up before they get a chance to get all Jiggy in a fishy way...
Oh, and due to its longevity, accumulates one of the largest concentrations of mercury in its tissues (up to 100 times that of other edible fish), giving a safe consumption level of around 2 fish or less. Which means regular consumption of orange roughy can have adverse effects on health...
Enjoy!
I will stick to Haddock. Which must be OK, as I have not Wikipedia'd it yet... ;-)
Lampuki season has just started here and already the fishers are complaining that there is a 70% reduction in catch, but something bad is going on in the med as not only is there a total reduction of fish, especially swordfish, being caught but every day three or five huge and very dead tuna are getting washed up.
Daan the Fishman has just arrived from Rotterdam, and he's brought some. They were caught last night so super fresh. The fish shop is by the front doors at the Viadukt Market by tramstop Damweg.
