Receiving calls from spam numbers

Hi,

We are receiving calls from span numbers in the late night.

Daily calls are coming from diffrent numbers.

These numbers are from Tunisia.

If i call back then i hear music chanting islamic prayer Allah Oh Akbar.

This is really getting frustating as there are various calls coming daily from different numbers. When i checked this on internet then i found various people have faced similar issue with these numbers.

This is what i found on internet:

http://www.wemgehoert.de/nummer/21670169977

Numbers from which i receive the calls:

+216 70 169 989

+216 70 169 977

+387 61002209

Let me know if someone has faced similar issue. Also kindly suggest what should i do as this is really bothering me now.

Haven’t come across it, but I doubt there’s much you can do about it as they’re calling from outside of Switzerland. Take the phone off the hook at night is the only solution. If your phone displays the number calling and you recognise it as one you’ve listed then just jiggle the handset in its receiver to cut the call off. That’s what I do with any numbers I know are cold callers, etc.

Edit: Why would you call back at that time of night if you don’t recognise the number?

hi,

i called up when third time i received the call. But strange that i am getting calls daily from different numbers. I tried to call them and always hear this islamic prayer. Receiving calls in midnight which is now frustating.

Take the phone off the hook then. Simples. No calls, good night’s sleep.

Get the numbers blocked?

Either way obviously you should never call them back after hearing the islamic music etc, surely that is basic common sense.

ask your provider to block the numbers, or maybe you can block them on the phone directly.

Actually the issue is that the call always comes from a different number .

get an App for your smartphone to manage calls. That could be allow only calls from contacts during evening and nighttime hours, for example.

why are you calling them back?

my comment is of course based on the fact that I don't really have a home phone, I have my mobile plus 3 VoIP lines (and Google Voice) on my Android.

I do enjoy the calls to my Google number...."if you are a homeowner, press 1"

Well thanks guys, you called me so YOU tell me my address. I think it annoys them more than it does me ..... shame the machine can still call people while I'm tying someone up.

Bastards just called me at 7am.. house full of sleeping kids, me on call for work so I had to investigate.

I searched the internet, I no longer use google to search you should try out https://duckduckgo.com/ , and it gave info on it being ' This is scam Premium Rate number (00216)from Tunisia.' They are fishing trying to get you to call back.

As the oldest man in Scotland pointed out, get an app that filters incoming calls, and assigns anything from Tunisia to a a hole. Another way is to make a contact on your phone for the number, I have a contact called ' ignore' and have that number go straight to voicemail. Alternatively call your phone provider and tell them to block Tunisia, if they say they cannot (lies) then threaten to move to another provider.

^ I presume you are using a smartphone. If not and it is your home landline phone, then buy a CHF40 phone that has the intelligence to do the above.

In case of landlines, buy a phone that can block numbers, or a callblocker. You may want to make sure you can have it not make a beep at all as it appears that some will only disconnect after, say, having ringed three times.

Is there someone for whom the issue has been resolved?

I am daily getting calls from a different tunisian number😒

This morning, I got a (landline) call, too.

I answered it and some guy claiming to be from the "IT Support Department" or so was on the other end - before hanging up.

I looked at the 30 or so other missed calls (it's landline, I don't get calls there. Ever. So if someone calls there, it's a scam, somebody trying to sell me lottery-tickets, talk me into changing my health-insurance, a poll or plain misdialed number).

I think there were one or two of the ones above among them.

Interesting.

Looking around a bit, it seems Swisscom cannot block incoming calls from specific countries.

In a forum, I read various hardcore-tips:

- extra-loud whistle next to phone, when they call again

- have a computer automatically accept every incoming call as soon as possible - this way, the caller has to pay!

- have a computer dial back the numbers dozens or hundreds of times a day, until it stops (apparently, they get the message after a while)

It would be a nice project with Asterisk or FreeSwitch and you can probably find ready-made scripts for this online...

Asterisk and FreeSwitch can probably also help you to block calls from parts of the world where you're sure to never receive a legit call.

If all else fails:

- switch numbers

- don't list the number

So my roommate has been having the same problem (from +216 numbers). The only solution that we found was to download an app that will block area codes. For Android the app "Mr. Number" will get this done for you. For Iphones you're out of luck, you can only block single numbers and it's quite cumbersome to block each individual number.

Unless you jailbreak your Iphone, then you could install an app like iBlackList.

For blocking individual numbers with IOS 7:
