Hi all
I am looking for some recent experiences with household insurance companies. I currently have AXA, however service has been terrible. And, after a couple claims they are changing the T&Cs of my insurance and gave me until next week to agree. I'm using this time instead to shop around.
Relatively straight forward household insurance needs including coverage for stolen items outside of home, bicycle theft and third party use/ car rental abroad - plus a company that has relatively good service.
Recent searches on the forum are quite old and I’ve run comparisons on Comparis. Looking for any suggestions and hear personal experiences. I currently am waiting for call backs from CSS, Generali, Allianz and Helsana - prepared to pay around 500 CHF annually but want good coverage and expect appropriate service.
Thank you in advance
I'm with Generalli and have been for many years. Haven't had many claims with them, but the one slightly bigger claim I had was dealt with very quickly and efficiently with no fuss. However, as always, YMMV.
We have Basler. No claims so far, but when I contacted them about a possible claim (it was not clear at the time whether the landlord was liable for the entire sum or we would need to pay some of it), they got back to me right away and told me how to approach it. In the end, the landlord paid everything, but I appreciated the assistance.
Thanks all for the replies
Actually, through this process, I found a much better coverage and total package with Zurich. I was about to finalize the offer and there is a question that says "Has an insurer rejected the application for household insurance (household contents, private liability, building), terminated a contract or imposed tougher conditions?"
Technically I could say no as this has not happened - yet. However, the whole reason I am looking around is AXA wants to increase deductible / change conditions given some claims.
How would Zurich really know this? Is there some type of insurance register or data sharing between insurance companies?
Well, doing more research on this over the wknd - I can't seem to find some "insurance register" so how would other insurance companies know?
Thoughts from others?
I think there is a verification process like this for car insurance.
