I was going to add however that I (like Lob above) really liked Hellboy, but everyone else I have ever spoken to said it was the worst piece of ill-conceived drivel they have ever seen.
So, perhaps my opinion has to be taken with a pinch or two of salt
He he he. That's my favorite saying. I had the unfortunate displeasure of watching Dare Devil on a flight across the US and I've always said if I ever run into Ben Affleck I'm asking for the two wasted hours of my life back.
You are all wrong.....Hellboy was average and V for Vendetta was great...
Also I hated The Departed..seen it before 7 times in 18 different films..
Did anyone watch Sideways last night on film 4...I thought it was brilliant.
Edit: Sin City...I thought I was pretty ok with film violence, but did it seem like way too much gratuitous bloodshed to everyone else...I'd find it hard to recommend...mind you I did just watch Harry Potter and liked it..o and Watership down :S
I thought it was good, but it is not a movie to watch in the theater. It's one to watch on DVD while at home so you can pause it to go get more wine as it's a wee bit slow/boring in points. Much better to watch when drunk.
Watched quite a lot of films recently, since we don't have cable or satellite - can recommend 'Serenity', made by the chap who created the 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' - it's quite a decent sci-fi. Cheap as chips on www.play.com . See who can spot 'Steve the Pirate' from 'Dodgeball' first - now there's a film.
Otherwise, watched 'Videodrome' recently - not one for grandma, to be sure, but quite good. Completely bonkers, of course.
Got to agree with Children of Men verdict - excellent film - some of the action scenes are done in one cut - the camera is still rolling for 10-15 minutes or so - pretty amazing when there are explosions and crazy action going on. It really gets the heart-rate going.
Deja vu - Pretty good action film, if you can cope with Denzil Washington playing the decent, moral high ground-taking, gentle enforcer (again). Also, don't question the plot too much or it will ruin the effect.
Next - avoid at all costs. Well, I can't stand Nicholas Cage anyway. Storyline is thinner than Nick Cage's hair. Basically one of those films that is no more than an excuse to string some fancy effects together. Pretty fancy effects, mind you.
I had been waiting over 15 years for Sin City to be made, along with Hard Boiled. If you ever read the comics, you would know. There can be no such thing as gratuitous bloodshed in such a work of graphic art. It's not possible for someone to take 80 bullets and walk away from it alive. It's a comic, the guy had a talking head in his car.
It's graphic, which for me makes a difference.
Who is waiting or Arkham Asylum to be made? Batman Begins was a great movie if we're looking at the same year tosh like V for Very torturous and crap movie to have to try and watch came out.
Funny, I haven't seen the new Crash movie, but have seen the older one a couple of times. I keep hearing people talk about how good Crash is, and always think they're talking about the Cronenberg one. It is a strange movie, but for some reason I actually liked it.
I like all movies as long as their good. However, I will never be watching Requiem for a Dream again. Incredible movie, but holy f--k was it disturbing. I woke up in the middle of the night three nights in a row after I watched it and was just disturbed. Also, I've heard Irreversible is incredible but I can not watch a 15 minute rape scene. You can't unsee things, if you know what I mean.
