Recommend Movies - coming soon or available to rent

After a foray into a slew of very unsuccesful, awful movie rental/purchases I'd like to put it out to the forum to suggest some good movies that have come out in the past 1-3 years. It doesn't really matter the genre as long as it's actually a good movie.

Lord of War.

Team America: World Police

America! F--k yeah! Coming again, to save the mutha' f--kin' day, yeah!

Oh, that is a good one.

Never thought a marionette sex scene could be so incredibly dirty.

Vatel released in 2000, but well worth a look

Finding Neverland Mr Depp playing a fairly straight role

The Merchant of Venice Pacino as Shylock ... pure class

Blood Diamond

The Departed

Old School

V for Vendetta is another good one.

Ah, Finding Neverland. One of the only movies to ever make me cry. Well, that and the original King Kong, when I was 5.

Hot Fuzz / Sean of the Dead / Dog Soldiers

some random British stuff

2 films highly recommended from the past couple of years

Children of Men

Pans Labyrinth

Loooovvveeeddd Sean of the Dead. 100% fan of cheezy horror movies.

If you haven't seen Evil Dead or Evil Dead 2 I would definitely recommend watching them.

There is no spoon.

continuing cartoon-centric: Hellboy

and plain stupid funny: Joe Dirt

what about Watership Down ....

Sin City

Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle

Little Miss Sunshine

The Black Dahlia

Man On Fire (bit older but still good)

Training Day

300 - look for the youtubes of the cast training, awesome. Their training mission statements was "appearance is a consequence of fitness", excellent.

BEERFEST (!!!!) - particularly good for any Americans who want a tongue-in-cheek "America takes on Europe and kicks it's ass" movie that requires zero mental effort to watch and has a lot of funny moments in. Seriously.

edit - and another (!)

Snow Cake

You're kidding right? This is the worst movie I've ever tried to endure, i gave up after about 20 minutes of it.

You can hardly deride the entire thing if you've only watched 20 minutes of it. Definately my favourite film of 2005.

^ To be fair, I saw it all, and I want my 2 hours back.

I guess we are all entitled to an opinion.. apart from you
