Recommendations for decent hotels in Lausanne

Hello,

I will visit Lausanne for a few days on 17 June before going to Grenoble. I love to exercise my french after years at Alliance Française.

Please if you could recommend me decent hotels not too expensive in a good location to visit the city since I will be alone.

Thank you very much and have a good day to you.

I like the Movenpick as its by the lake and close to metro into town. Some rooms are a bit older but the new rooms are good.

Also Best Western near the train station is good and reasonable.

Most others I stayed at there were that good, except for the Royal Savoy which is great but might not fit your too expensive.

Ibis Lausanne center is good. Its cheapish clean and good location. But its a swiss hotel cheap(so real world a bit pricey). Other options would be the hostel by the station, Rennen is really close to Lausanne and has cheap hotels. Or of course its ok to camp and theres a few nice camping spots on the lake and the weather is ok now.

WHATEVER YOU DO, AVOID THIS ONE!!!!!!

Our favorite small but really nice hotel in Lausanne is the Hotel Nash Carlton. It is very reasonably priced and right next to the Délice metro stop. The Italian restaurant called Pinocchio is just around the corner and yummy.

The hotels down by the lake and the ones up in the center are fine but pricey. It all depends on your budget. I do not recommend Movenpick! If you want to stay just on the lake, stay at the Angleterre.

Of course, if money is no object, stay at Beau Rivage or Lausanne Palace. Bring a tuxedo.

Why not head to montreux ?

Pricewise there is not much difference, the area around the station in lausanne is not a highlight, i recommend montreux over lausanne, it is really awesome and only 20 mins from Lausanne by train.

I stayed in the Lausanne Guesthouse by the railway and was very happy with it.

It appears that they are opening a new place next week so everything should be fresh and sparkling http://lausanne-guesthouse.ch/

I will be heading to Grenoble, first thought Laussane is a good point to start, will stay in Grenoble longer and could use spare money for socialising more thus I can use my french.

Thank you for the suggestion.

Best regards,

Ok, I understand that despite all good reviews (It had happened to me), that's way it's hard to chose. Thank you

Trust me, that is a terrible hotel... the rooms are for ants, the walls are made of cookies, and the staff is not 24 hs there, meaning, if there are loud noises by other people staying in the hotel, you are completely at your own
