Recommendations for renting a privately-owned ski chalet?

We are seeking a self-catered on-piste ski chalet for our family of 6 in Switzerland (or France) for the week over Christmas. We have found many agency websites, but they are for hotel-style or apartment-style accommodations (a flat in a big multi-unit apartment building or hotel). We are after a more private chalet. What websites can people recommend for finding the smaller-scale private chalets? Many thanks!

The other way is to get in touch with the resort of choice Tourist Office and ask them for a listing.

PremiereNeige have superb large chalets, catered or not- in the lovely resort of St Foy Tarentaise (near Val d'Isere) some right next to childrens' ski school and lifts- but they are very pricy.

I also use ownersdirect (nor sure of web address, but easily found on a search) and advertise myself with www.holidaylettings.co.uk .

I second that then you get comparisons

Price of one place I know if available, 5460 for the Xmas week for max 6 persons, + 200 final cleaning, + 30 per person linen/towels + 210 sauna usage (all CHF)

no idea of the local tourist tax or if you have to pay, but if you did you pay to the local tourist office

Hopefully you will find somewhere more reasonable

Bear in mind you would need either 4 wheels with winter tires otherwise chains as you will more than likely be travelling in the snow
