Title says it all really.
My son is looking for someone in St. Moritz to do his tax return for 2023. He’s a Swiss resident, and an employee, so nothing complex, but doesn’t speak German.
Any recommendations?
If you do your own you could help him fill his in. Or contact your cantonal tax office to see if anyone there could go through it with him. Once it’s done it’s usually pretty easy to do the same in future years unless his circumstances change a lot.
Does he even need to do one? Does he earn over 120k?
My taxes are complicated so I use someone, but I don’t speak German either and don’t live in Grison.
He is not taxed at source, so yes, he does need to do one.
There are many reasons why somebody would need to fill out a tax return, earning over 120k is not the sole reason.
Maybe he is Swiss and so isn’t taxed at source.
Anyway, OP confirmed he isn’t taxed at source so that is clear.
Unfortunately, I doubt we have many members from St. Moritz. Maybe he should reach out to his friends/network as they might know someone.
Though if he’ll be there long term, it might be worth him learning to do it on his own, even if it is with a dictionary or google translate.
If worst comes to worst, he will indeed try using DeepL and the canton’s software, but having someone do this first return for him would be good.
BTW, yes, he is Swiss, but only moved back to Switzerland mid last year, so this is the first time he’s ever had to file a tax return here.
Get him to contact a few fiduciaries in his area, they’ll surely be some who speak enough English to be able to help him with a simple tax return.
