I have a question to people who are working in recruitment in Switzerland. What are the most popular IT-tools for recruitment and Applicant Tracking Systems used in Switzerland? Maybe some cloud platforms which help at the initial-screening stage? Is there any difference in tools used in different cantons?
In the French speaking part, a LinkedIn profile is a must whereas in German areas a Xing profile is better.
Registering on jobup.ch in Romandie proves to be a good starting place. Do not forget to update your profile every day in order to appear first in the searches.
I heard that Taleo is a very popular application tracking system. Personally I ran away from sites using some sorts of online forms.
I always try to have my resume sent directly to a human being mailbox.
A trick: start the subject field with Re: , - eg Re: job application xxxx - so it gives the impression that an exchange has already been initiated. If asked why you tried to "cheat" that way, reply that Re stands for "Regarding" 🙂
Call the company first and ask whom to send the application. If they insist going through the online application system call a few hours later and claim the site had a bug and you'd rather send your resume directly to the recruiter.
