So I bought the big green bin, went to the Gemeinde, checked the dates, filled lovely bin with grass cuttings and compost and dragged it up to collection point to park next to the others.
I would assume you neglected the appropriate "green garbage" stamps . I'm not sure what color they are in Zürich, but they seem to be required in every Commune / Gemeinde I know. Alternatively , one can pay a yearly fee which would allow your container to be emptied without these stamps, but rather with a single yearly stamp or label displayed permanently on said container.
Thanks for all the advice! Turns out I need a specific bin (Landi) so the machine can pick it up, don't need to pay any extra, and grass cuttings, compost, branches, leaves and everything is taken away. Guess much varies from gemeinde to kanton, etc. Appreciate all the tips so thank you!
They changed the lorries used for collecting the waste here last year and some of the bins were no longer able to be emptied so the owners had to go out and buy new ones.
A simple solution but one that you need to know about.
You might want to ask either the place where you bought your (now unusable) bin or the place where you were informed of which bin you need what you could do with your unusable bin. Or sell it on here - maybe someone can use a green bin...
Does anyone know of a company that will remove and dispose of green waste in Zurich? It’s too much to fit or breakdown for the green container. Between 5 and 8 cubic meters.
