Registered mail for residence permit returned to sender

Hi All,

After waiting for two weeks after the biometric, I decided to ask the canton about the whereabouts of my residence permit, and found out that it is said to have once reached the town on a registered B mail, though I've never got the collection note asking me to pick it up. The last trace from the post is that it was expired and was sent back to somewhere in Zurich 7 days ago (note I live in Valais).

May I ask if anyone has had such an experience? Then how and when did you get the permit back? The canton and the commune have been simply asking me to wait for extra 2/3/7/10 days since then

Thank you!

My sister was abroad and she couldn't pick-up her permit, so it was sent back to cantonal authorities. She called them, and they told her to go there in person. She went there and they handed her the permit directly.

In your case, maybe the postman forgot to put a collection note in your box.

Why was it sent to Zürich if you live in Valais ?

Maybe they are mailed from the factory in Zurich, I guess.

BTW do you know how long did it take for the permit to get back to the canton authority? Thank you so much!

She called them two weeks after the registred mail was returned, but she doesn't recall if the permit was returned to Zürich or to her canton of residency.

In the end I got after 8 days after it was returned at the commune office, total 37 days after the biometric.

Thanks for all!
