There's this apartment I want to visit, and the agency mentions on the website it's mandatory to register for the (scheduled) viewing via email. I did so but they never replied (it's been 3 days)... Is this normal? Should I show up to the viewing anyway?
I'd just show up. It's bit weird that sometimes that you schedule something, never receive a reply, but you show up and the person is there waiting.....once I was even welcomed by my name meaning I was the only one to visit the flat. I guess this is a quirky cultural thing.
But, no problem if you contact them to confirm. Maybe the apartment is taken and they forgot to remove the ad.
Edit/Update: good thing I went, the guy was indeed there just for me.
It took me while to get used to the idea of scheduling something 3 months into the future. I was anxious to ask 2-3 days before the appointment if the thing we scheduled 3 months before was still on or not. Then I realized things said 3 months before are kept, no need to worry, just be there...on time.
What I still have trouble to understand is little commercial interactions like the one kxfn described. Not so long ago I asked a test drive for a car, never received a reply, just showed up at the time I requested and the car war ready to test. Is acknowledgement of reception with a 3-4 word email too much work?
In short: Close with stating that you expect an acknowledgement within a few days. Like, "Ich freue mich auf Ihre Bestätigung in den nächsten Tagen".
