Hi, so I have an IB m25 diploma and the results have been pretty terrible; I didnt reach my desired points, though still passed, i got rejected. fair. but i need to study for this year till the next year to reapply again. im planning to redo my ib exams for the n25 sessions. but i was thinking if i should do courses at the same time so that the commune could see im integrated in the swiss education. i researched, and many offer year long courses, but only for those who either dont have a high school diploma, or for those who already hold a bachelors which isnt recognized by swiss unis. i just hold a high school diploma that just didnt pass for this years’ admission. any advice? i atm only hold a permit B, but to keep it i need to officially study SOMEWHERE and so far im kind of stuck.. pls help
PS im 18
I would suggest that a job would be better than a random course - it would also show the university that you are mature and able to get/hold a job (regardless of what it is).
If I get two candidates (I hire grads from unis):
Candidate 1: barely passed uni, and has some random courses (e.g. a foundation year) after 4 years
Candidate 2: barely passed uni, but has 1 year of experience (especially something with transferable skills, people skills or human interactions) in those 4 years,
I know which candidate would most likely be more interesting… and it’s not #1

Are you EU or non-EU? If non-EU then a job’s likely out of the question since your permit is for studying, not work, and any Swiss employer has to prove they can’t find a Swiss/EU national to do the job before they could attempt to hire an experienced non-EU candidate.
If EU then no such problems though you’d probably need to apply for a new permit since yours is for studying.

thing is that i can only work if my parents stay here. my problem is that they wont and i would need to study instead - it’s the only way to keep my permit B… random courses or whatever i really dont care. i just need to fill this year with at least something that can grant me safety… im sorry i really appreciate your response!!! i really do!!
hi! im non-eu. i only hold a russian passport though i was born in switzerland. i dont hold a swiss passport due to leaving the country at the age of 4. if i stay here long enough i could get a permit C. so far ive lived here for 3 years. studies have been my only way out but i didnt do as well as i thought i wouldve and ended up in this mess. yes i know jobs are out of the question… so i need to study at least something
I have seen this: FuturPlus programme
It ‘prepares’ for a swiss maturity thing but doesnt actually give you it. i could do this and once i resit my ib exams and apply and get accepted to unil, then i can pull out and just move on? dunno i js need a filler for this year. thank u ;-;
So your permit is actually a family reunification one. If your parents leave then you’d have to apply for a new permit to study here and also show that you have the funds to support yourself while studying.
