Relicating to Switzerland

Dear all,

I am relocating to Geneva, Switzerland from Romania (EU) and I know that Switzerland is stricter than other countries. My company will provide accommodation and insurances, etc. but I have 2 questions:

1) My fiancée will be relocating with me. What should we take into consideration and what do we need to do for her to live in Switzerland without any problems and for a longer period than 90 days (permits, insurances, etc)? She is employed at the moment in a multinational and works remotely.

2) We will be coming by car which is a company car, registered in Romania. To be noted that it is bought in leasing for the next 4 years. I know that I will need to buy the 40 CHF vignette. What else do I need to know? Also for doing groceries in France will I need to buy vignette there as well?

Hopefully someone can help me with these questions.

Welcome to the forum and soon to Switzerland.

How soon do you plan to get married? If soon and in Switzerland then she could possibly get a fiancée permit which would allow her to be here to help with the wedding preparations. After that happens, she would get a family reunification permit as your spouse. Otherwise she might be able to get an independent permit as she’s working remotely, but you’d need to talk with the cantonal migration office in Geneva about that. There’s more on family reunification here:

Car not so sure. If it’s a company one I’m not sure you could declare it as part of your personal import. Contact the Swiss Customs Office and check with them.

France doesn’t do vignettes.
