Remember the Be-Ro baking books?

Still got 2 versions, 1 pre-metric and 1 with both metric and imperial- and still refer to them regularly. Do you?

Just found out there is now an internet version:

Great!

What a blast from the past!

I'm sure my mum used to use Be-Ro when we were kids, and I've noticed that the address on your link is in Blackburn Lancashire, just a few miles from my home town!

I've got a couple too that I got from my mum and still use them both regularly. Very battered they are now so I'll check out the online version. Both only in imperial but that suits me just fine.

They go very well with my Kenwood Cheffette - acquired in 71 with Green Shield Stamps when we lived on Putney Hill ...

Only this week I inherited two Be-Ro books from my Nan. I always use the Be-Ro recipe for my scones...

Mmmmm warm scones, butter, jam and a cup of Yorkshire tea!

Green Shield Stamps! Oh what memories and Victoria Sponge.

We used to go to the Green Shield stamp shop in Manchester!

We had one in Huddersfield too opposite the coop back in the days when the coop was a department store.

My brother and I used to argue over who was going to stick the stamps in the book. Can't imagine why now as I hate licking stamps these days.

My mum treated herself and me to a new Be-ro book two years ago. Although it is all online there is something special about flicking through the book.

'Treated' as in paid? They were always free in Ye Olde Days

I have one that belonged to my gran.

Sorry but they cost several pound now, I saw them in Asda last time I was home.

They can be bought from Amazon.

My mum had (probably still has) the fourth one down..

Wow I am rich, I have 34th and 35th edition

Thanks for your wee chat- its made my day as I saw from Amazon that my 'stuck together with sellotape' book is from 1930 and worth a whopping GBP 19. Can't imagine buying a newer version as it has so many memories. Not just the great recipies, but my Gran used to keep her 'spare' pound notes in it. It was her own in-house bank. Even today I sometimes put a CHF 10 note in just for fun.

Absolutely amazing that they are still for sale.

Just seen that I have the 1967 32nd edition! Year before I was born...

Thanks Be-Ro!

Mmmmmmm.....

They look delicious!

Another Be-Ro fan here - my mum got me my copy of the little book - I use it a lot!
