Thanks
Hi - can anyone give me some names of reputable removalists companies (not hugely expensive though) for our UK to Leysin, Switzerland move in July?
Hiya,
Whatever you do - stay away from Baxter's. The were terrible with breakages and even worse when it came to the insurance claim....
Just thought I would warn you :-)
Good luck with the move!
Cheers
We used European Van Lines. One small thing broke that wasn't worth claiming. You need to have the company pack and unpack everything to be able to claim for breakages.
Pickfords are also reliable.
Specialised Moving services Ltd based near Brighton did a fantastic job for me, his team are fast, efficent and reasonably priced, he moves a lot of diplomats so has to stay on the ball at all times. If you IM me i'll send you his personal email address, sorry dont have the tel. number with me. Good Luck
We used Pickfords Executive Move team (or similar name), and they were excellent. Nothing broke, and they arrived early in Switzerland which suited us. They were reasonably expensive though - about £6k (incl insurance) for a full pack and unpack of a 4 bed house. I would highly recommend them.
A friend of mine used these guys - he said they were reasonable http://www.removalgroup.com/
Depends where you are in the UK. I think it is a group of smaller companies and you can get an instant quote
I used these people
They were very good and very reasonable prices too.
It worked out cheaper to let them choose a date as they can share a trip.
we used pickfords and were very dissapoined with them things were broken, they arrived late then couldnt move the things up our hill, so had to get another van (smaller) and just threw all our stuff from the big van in to the little van it was a nightmare
We used luker brothers, efficent, reliable and costwise reasonable. Some people have complained about them on EF and others have find them good. They do specialize in removals to CH. All the best with your search.
Thanks a lot - all very helpful
Brilliant - thanks a lot
Thanks - that's great
won't use them then!
Won't use them then!
Will give them a ring. Thanks
Thanks a lot
Use a company that will pack and unpack in Switzerland and will also handle the customs papers for the shipment, plus the import of the car, if you have one. We got three quotes in the UK, had a survey done and then went ahead. The problem was we had more than they quoted, we refused to pay extra and the shipment was held up by this. Cut a very long story short the load was put in a warehouse near Geneva and then a local Swiss company delivered it. We paid for a full pack unpack in the UK, the SWiss company refused to fully unpack in Switzerland.
Lots of minefields, make sure you know what you are getting for your money.
