Long story short: I rent two apartments in Geneva with two different Regies and from what I understood, that's perfectly legal. The Regies have no idea though - should they? I share one with my fam and one my friend.
Thing is, one of the apartment's contract cannot be renewed, therefore I'm looking for another one. I found one apartment that's available but it's with the same Regie as the apartment that I'm still renting. Different person showing the viewing and handling the apartment.
So question is:
1) Do Regies share a person's file between each other?
2) Can Regies rent two apartments to the same person?
I don't really see a problem with the property management. But they are obliged to register you with the community. So if both flats are under your name, you will be registered under two addresses (maybe even at two different towns) that should be fun when it comes to taxes, voting - if you're Swiss - permits - if you're not Swiss - etc. etc.
But I gather you have that sorted out already as you don't seem to be changing private situation but merely one of the flats.
I love how this immediately turned into an infidelity situation XD
First of all everyone, I'm a young woman who shares the rent with her siblings of one family apartment and also rented another apartment so my friend wouldn't be homeless (for lack of a better word)!
But I do love how all this turned out to be a secret apartment for a mistress - brilliant ;D
My only concern is that when I rented the apartment 1 for my friend, I didn't tell them that I was already renting another apartment 2 (with my siblings). I don't know if I had to or not but that's the only reason why I'm asking so I don't face issues trying to find another apartment with the same regie.
Hi Tom,
Thanks for your reply!
Did they have any issues with your salary income?
Cause you know how they ask if your salary can cover x3 the monthly rent as a precaution.
Yeah no - I have two flats under my name but only registered in one because from what I was told, as long as you're registered in one you're good.
Simply changing flats and not towns, etc.
But thanks for your help !
It's not that - it's just the mere fact of wanting to rent a second apartment. I don't know if it's a common practice or if anyone ever experienced issues with it, which is why I'm asking.
And since you brought paying rent, I'm just wondering if anyone experienced difficulties with the regie being "worried" that since you're already renting one, you won't be able to afford the other. Know what I mean?
Very common, it's not nice to entertain your mistress in the same appartment as your wife and believe me, the Swiss are no angels when it comes to this
On Fridays every thread is pepped up on EF. A simple question (which could be easily, quickly and lastingly answered by the régis) just doesn't do it. That's one for Mondays.
