We'll be spending a few weeks in Switzerland this summer and plan to cycle most of the way. My husband will be bringing his touring bike but my daughter and I will be renting. Where can i rent a bike in Zurich and are they good to do long trips on? Also to attach panniers? We plan to use them for the luggage and not sure if we can rent or bring--what our options are at the renting place. So far I've looked at rent-a-bike but I am embarrassed to say I can't figure out what bikes they have and where to go rent them in Zurich. We plan to travel and return at the same location upon departure.
I think you will need to look at specialty cycling tours (google) that offer "self guided" tours. Besides the right bikes they can help a lot with the planning, routes, etc. here's one I found.
