In order to do that you have to call them and ask them to remotely configure the Connect box in "Bridge mode", this will bypass the embedded functionalities except for the bare connection. You can't do this configuration from the control panel, you have to call them.
Also agree, add your own router.
BUT, depending on your cable / wireless setup, we had to turn the CableCom wireless back on, so we could connect the UPC TV Box through wi-fi.
So we have Connect box with 2 clients, UPC Tv and Asus router.
Good luck, connecting.
I am also infuriated by the poor performance of the ConnectBox, but it's been a LONG time since I've bought a router.
Any advice from the wise people of EF for a good router, before I dive into the myriad reviews and advice which a Google search would yield?
(Especially if anyone has found that certain routers work better or worse with a ConnectBox set-up)
If you want new, then look at topreisse.ch or for far better value, look at the ricardo auction site. Here are a few suggestions for fairly new solid WiFi routers which are currently up for auction.

Sorry for slow reply, but many thanks for your response, that's very helpful! I got distracted in the meantime with a few non-IT related matters
(Unfortunately, I can't seem to "Thank" you officially on this thread because it originates from the days before I had thanking rights on the EF)
I'll take a look at the routers now, and see if I can improve our system here at home.
All the best and thanks again
